Security and Privacy

Security and Privacy are at the heart of ClariNet™. All information is stored on ClearLife's servers, which are hosted at secure locations in the United States. No ClariNet™ data is stored outside of the United States.

Information flowing between subscribers and ClariNet™ is secured using industry standard web browser encryption.

ClariNet™ is hosted from servers at multiple, geographically separate locations is the United States. Automatic failover ensures that subscribers do not suffer downtime in the event of server failure, site disruption or loss of network connectivity. ClariNet™ data is backed up nightly to a remote location for long term data integrity. Both the backups and the ClariNet™ database are stored in encrypted form to further protect data security.

ClariNet™ enables subscribers to protect the privacy of the individuals involved in a life settlement, whether a seller, an insured, a beneficiary or the spouse or partner of such an individual. When a Case is first set up within ClariNet™, each insured life is allocated a ClearLifeID - a unique alphanumeric identifier code. Each policy is also allocated a UPRC (Unique Policy Reference Code), which is also a unique alphanumeric identifier code. The ClearLifeID and the UPRC combine to allow Case information to move between transaction participants without the need to disclose private information.

This is handled through a "double blind" matching system, in which each ClearLifeID and each UPRC are unique not only to the relevant insured life or policy but also to the subscriber. Whenever a Case is submitted to a subscriber in redacted form, ClariNet™ checks details of the insured life against the list of insured lives previously seen by that subscriber. If the insured life matches one included in a prior Case, ClariNet™ reports it as a possible duplicate, allowing the subscriber to investigate further if it is concerned about concentration limits. The same applies for the UPRC. Using this "double blind" matching system prevents a subscriber from using the ClearLifeID and/or UPRC as a generic identifier to exchange case information outside ClariNet™, promoting the security and integrity of data held within the system.

To support the use of the ClearLifeID and the UPRC, ClariNet™ integrates a document redaction engine, allowing documents uploaded as part of a Case to be redacted simply and securely by a user with appropriate permissions. ClariNet™ stores both the clean and redacted versions of documents and allows the Administrator to control which users are able to see each version of the document. Use of the document redaction engine does not require that any additional software be installed on the user's computer - it is managed on ClearLife's servers.
